Misty DeMeans vacates the GCC featherweight championship?
Over the span of 80+ days, Misty DeMeans has made many claims and assertions but one in particular seems to have flown under the radar. Earlier this week, she stated on twitter @Mdemeans that she had mailed her GCC featherweight championship to President Khan and that he should probably get the championship in the mail before GCC 10 next week. I reached out to GCC but they issued no comment and the general feeling backstage is that Misty DeMeans is bluffing.
Kelsi Morrow released
So earlier today it was announced that bantamweight Kelsi Morrow was released from the GCC. No reason had been stated in the initial report but inside sources say that Kelsi Morrow was not responding to any fight offers and was terrified of accepting another fight. ''She was ducking everybody'' the inside source explained.
GUF LIVE?
With the recent announcements of the Global Ultimate Fighter season one cast and coaches much speculation has begun to arise as fans speculate and come up with their own theories. Talking to a producer who is involved in the show they state that the show will not air on wearesplat LIVE and the episodes will be pre-taped over the span of several weeks. Also, inside the GUF house there will be a single computer where fighters will be able to express their thoughts on social media during their time in the house.
Rupika Khan - a new confidence?
Sources inside of The House of Khan say that Rupika Khan is extremely confident going into her fight with Juanita Sanchez and plans to steal the show. After her second round arm bar submission win over Anaquin Adams at GCC 6 and pushing the current champ Misty DeMeans five rounds she now truly feels that she can beat anyone in the division.
What happened to Splatterhouse?
Absent from the first season of GUF is the Splatterhouse GYM. I spoke to inside sources at GCC and officials explained that they didn't have any candidates suitable for the show. ''Splatterhouse is a great gym with a great staff and the applicants we reviewed were too good to start out on the GUF show. The few fighters we saw could very well be fighting for GCC or another other major MMA promotion without the need for the exposure of the show.''
Atara Themis is Fine(d)?
Last week it was announced that Atara Themis was fined $5k for interrupting the GCC zoom broadcast without being scheduled to attend. I have it on good authority that despite the fine Atara had received, GCC execs loved the move and that the fine was merely a formality. As a result, they are looking closely at her GCC 10 fight with Jade Young because if she wins she is likely to receive top billing in her next GCC fight.
Alexia Amauri on stand by!
Reportedly, Alexia Amauri has completed a full camp at the House of Khan as she potentially may be called upon should the GCC feel that Misty DeMeans will not show up on July, 3rd. An inside source at the splatterhouse gym insists that Jessica House has exclusively prepared to fight Misty DeMeans and ultimately feel that she will show up so it is unclear on whether or not Jessica House would accept a late replacement fight against Alexia Amauri. Due to the actions of Misty DeMeans several camps are scrambling and the GCC execs are start to sweat as each day the title fight looks less and less likely it will happen. Misty DeMeans hasn't reported to HILITE FC in Toronto since her title victory at GCC 7 against Gaia Galanos.
