Jocelyn's Picks - GCC 14 edition

Hello everybody! Welcome to Jocelyn's Picks! What a great night of fights Fazan Khan and his matchmakers have planned for GCC 14 - Ward vs Shadows. I've studied the fighters, and looked at past fights. Here are my predictions.

Awut Somaskul (6-4) vs. Sergiy Revenko (4-2)

A rematch of their GCC 5 encounter. In that fight Sergiy was able to control Awut Somaskul within the Muay Thai clinch. So Somaskul needs to avoid it.

I do feel if Somaskul can secure a takedown, he'll be able to control Revenko, and possibly submit him.

I feel securing a takedown against Revenko is harder said than done, and I see Sergiy grabbing the win in the rematch

Winner: Sergiy Revenko

Ken Felder (2-0) vs. George Toma (2-0)

A battle between two young and hungry, undefeated fighters. These two have contrasting styles. Toma's two winds have come as a result of a KO/TKO and Ken Felder's wins have come as a result of submissions.

I feel that if Ken Felder can get the fight on the ground, whether it be jumping guard or a takedown, George Toma will be in big trouble. If Felder can't accomplish this task, he will get picked apart on the feet.

I feel that if Felder's chin doesn't hold up. He'll be stopped before he has the opportunity to get inside.

Winner: George Toma

Cinzia Rossi (2-2-1) vs. Leah Wilkins (2-1)

A terrific fight between two young strikers out of the bantamweight division. Can Cinzia Rossi put pressure on The Cat and force a stoppage or will Leah Wilkins be able to out counter strike Cinzia and earn the win? I don't know.

Winner: ???

Jade Young (3-2) vs. Trixie Redd (3-2)

Another one that I do not know. Jade Young is a world class boxer, and Trixie Redd is a world class kickboxer. Common sense should tell you the kickboxer will win, but when you train with fighters out of the Lone Wolf MMA camp. She may surprise you.

Winner: ???

Jay Aguero (3-2) vs. Tatenda Masawui (2-0)

This is a classic grappler versus striker match. Jay Ageuro has some of the best boxing and clinch work in the game, but Masawui is a world-class wrestler, with Jiu Jitsu to go along with it.

I feel like Jay won't be able to stop Tatenda's takedown efforts, and Ageuro will come out of GCC 14 with a 50/50 record.

Winner: Tatenda Masawui

(c) Sammie Ward (3-0) vs. Ariel Shadows (3-0)

This fight every fan of women's MMA is looking forward to. We have two world-class strikers squaring off. The one glaring difference is Ariel Shadows has a 12-in reach advantage over the champion.

However, when Sammie Ward fought Cinzia Rossi she relied heavily on her ground game. With her brother being Tommy Ward I have a sneaky suspicion she will be relying on her grappling.

If the fight stays standing I feel Ariel will be able to control the distance, and bring Tundra MMA a second championship.

If Sammie utilizes her grappling, and Ariel Shadows cannot stop the takedown, The Wonder will defend her title successfully.

However I feel that Ariel will defend the takedown, and capture the bantamweight championship.

Winner: Ariel Shadows
