Prior to leaving the cage, Gaia Galanos spoke with the reporter standing by to interview her post-match.
Run us through the fight…
“All the kudos in the world to Rupika for the fight she brought into the octagon tonight. She came with a game plan and was prepared to execute that gameplay, but I think now we know who the better fighter is. Rupika talked a lot of game just like she did against myself, Juanita, and Misty. As for how the fight went, Rupika came out strong looking to use the clinch against me, but I just stuck to my guns by firing off strikes at her to ensure the victory in the judges’ eyes.
At one point, Rupika was so adamant on getting me to the ground. Her end all, be all was to get me on the ground and submit me. She made a huge mistake when she tried to shoot in on me, I am pound-for-pound one of the best, if not THE best wrestler in all of GCC. Maybe she’ll think twice about such recklessness after that knee she ate. After that mistake, the fight was mine and that shone through in the unanimous decision.”
What’s next for Gaia Galanos?
“I have already made my intentions clear. I want the featherweight title back. I don’t care who I need to fight next to make that happen, but for now I’m going to enjoy this win, heal my wounds, and look forward to what 2021 brings.”
