Earlier tonight I was able to catch up with Paul Rossi after his incredible 30-25 sweep against former lightweight champion Awut Somaskul to talk about what will be in his fighting future. Some of the answers he provided were a bit surprising to say the least.
We spoke about the lead-up to the biggest fight of his professional career, he finally admitted he was nervous, but was confident coming in.
I also asked him about the next fight he would like and here's his direct quote.
"I want to get that Indigo Greene fight back. He must have had an angel or something praying for him that night, but count on this when we meet again I will leave no doubt who the better fighter is."
I assumed with a win over Awut Somaskul he'd be looking to climb the rankings, but he said that he had to have this rematch because if he didn't he wouldn't be able to live with himself.
I won't understand because I'm not a professional athlete, but if that's the way he feels and if Fazan Ali-Khan is willing to sign it. I'll be more than glad to watch the fight.
I also spoke with Tommy Ward who was with Paul Rossi. I congratulated him on his win, but he said he was very disappointed in it. I asked Tommy who he would like to fight next.
"I have to go home and think about it. Tonight wasn't my best performance, but you'll definitely see me in the cage again, at least one more time if not twice."
Is that a cryptic message to Tommy Ward is planning on retiring? As for this writer I hope not.
