BIOGRAPHY
Tony Savage is a man that's been a human roller coaster. Born in Atlanta, Ga., Tony was always drawn to heavy hitting sports. Boxing and rugby in his high school days were his staples. In the United States Army, he became a member of the Rangers, the elite all-purpose special operations unit that specialize in covert, rough terrain combat. During his enlistment, Tony also competed in the 185lb division and won the Armed Forces Championship in 2011, and silver medaled before his time in the military came to a close in 2012. But what he ended up being the most famous for, put him on the map, was something he had never intended to get involved with professional wrestling.
Originally, Tony did a few mock matches in Afghanistan with some of his squad-mates as a joke, and to entertain his fellow troops. It wound up being the jump off point for a career that's made him world famous. In ten years, he racked up multiple titles, including 4 World straps, and also competed at a high level in professional boxing. His record in the sweet science was 8-4. Not the best, but considering he was wrestling and acting at the time, pretty solid. But long term prescription drug misuse and depression nearly derailed all of that. Injuries, stress, unscrupulous medical care, and his reputation for going too hard hampered his career.
After a year of training, rehab, and a re-evaluation of his life, Tony refocused his efforts to the true fight game. (Although, he is down to do part time wrestling still.) 18 months ago, Tony's wife, Cassandra, convinced him a fresh start in the U.K. was what he need. And of course, wifey's always right. London's been a spring that's revitalized the once wrecked fighter. On loan from and representing North London Boxing gym, Tony brings to the MMA world and absolutely lethal skill set, forged and refined though military combat, years of in-ring fighting, and a lot of often painful trial and error.
The Snake shed his old skin. He's a new predator now...but as always, still poisonous to a man's career.
