BIOGRAPHY
Cat grew up as an urchin on the streets of West London, moving from squat to squat and from temporary accommodation to temporary accommodation alongside her single father, Big Dez. When Dez was eventually charged with jail time, 9-year-old Cat was left to fend for herself.
There followed the usual run-ins with the law - though never for anything more serious than shoplifting or rough sleeping - until helping hands from a few concerned parties brought Cat into contact with Dr. Edward Morecambe, the resident child psychiatrist at an institution for troubled girls.
Against all odds, Cat - then in her early teens - formed a strong bond with Dr. Morecambe, with each finding in the other the father/daughter figure their lives had been missing. With good nurturing and encouragement, Cat's personality traits soon came out, and she even learned her real name -LeahWilkins. Her temper was still a problem, however, and causing her to become persona non grata at the institution. The solution for this was to find her an outlet for the aggression - and thus, at the age of 14 or 15, began Cat's kickboxing career.
The following years saw her reveal a true knack for the sport, winning both local and regional titles at Juniors level. Her hot head and fight-or-flight nature were still holding her back, however - most significantly, from being selected for Team GB, after making the shortlist but being deemed 'too unstable' at a mental level. In typical Leah fashion, however, she refused to give up, and after venting her frustrations on a punching bag, decided to make her own luck. From there, all it took was a Google search before she ran across GCC, an increasingly well-reputed organization offering appealing chances for young fighters. Travelling overseas to the US might have seemed like a daunting obstacle for a girl who never set foot outside Central London;Leah Wilkins, however, is no ordinary girl. She's a fighter. And starting this Spring, she's going to prove it.
